 Prince Abdullah Bin Musaed Bin Abdul Aziz Heads the Kingdom’s Delegation at the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM)

 His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah Bin Musaed Bin Abdul Aziz, the President of the General Sports Authority headed the Kingdom’s delegation at the 3rd Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) held in Turkey on Thursday.

The conference was initiated by a speech addressed by Prince Abdullah Bin Musaed (the President of the second session) in which he welcomed all the attendees and talked about the importance of this meeting and its effective role in enhancing the joint sports and youth programs between member states. His Royal Highness said:
“I stress upon the outcome of Jeddah Announcement 2014 in which the member states were invited to the positive interaction and to support the efforts and programs addressed to the service of the sports and youth affairs in the Islamic world in partnership with the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the General Administration of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization”.
He added: “we are now involved more than anything in the youth programs due to their high importance and to their important role in facing the negative impacts that affect the youth training process, in developing the youth capacities and in overcoming all the obstacles that prevent our youth from participating in these programs and in all the sports and youth activities.
We stress upon the importance of sports in the physical, educational and psychological training of our youth and their important role in approaching between all populations and cultures and in consolidating the values of positive interaction between one another.
In this regard, I wish that our honored board adopts a recommendation that forces the member states to keep the sports sector and all its competitions away from all the affairs that lead to segregation and conflict and that expand intolerance and hatred, the fact that contradicts with the values of our upright religion and our tendency towards tolerance, peace and principles of the eternal Islamic message that took off from the most sacred land of our planet, Mekkah Al Mukarramah.

Prince Abudllah Bin Musaed also talked about the importance of participating in the programs of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, he said:
“The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation holds several programs and competitions that aim at including all Islamic youth and enhancing the competition’s values and its honorable goals. I am glad here to stress upon the importance of the effective participation of member states in the federation’s activities and programs in general and in the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games that will be held in May 2017 in particular”.

At the end of his speech, His Royal Highness thanked the Turkish government for hosting this conference and the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for organizing and preparing it.

Afterwards, Prince Abdullah announced members of the Executive Board under the presidency of Turkey and Soudan (Vice Presidents), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Decision Maker) and Palestine and Gambia (members).
His Royal Highness also revealed that the President of the session will be the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports Akif Çağatay who addressed a speech in which he thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its efforts rendered in the first and second session and praised the role of Prince Abdullah Bin Musaed in the execution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation programs and activities.

Afterwards, the Federation’s General Secretary Faisal Al Nassar addressed a speech in which he talked about the events and programs executed by the federation, pointing out that Azerbaijan completed all its preparations for hosting the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017. He also stressed upon the big support given to the federation by all member states in general and by the Kingdom in particular.

The session also included a speech made by the representative of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in which he thanked all those who participated in the conference and afterwards the session was closed as for the discussions and deliberations to take place.

It is noteworthy that the preparatory meetings of the Ministers’ Conference was initiated on Wednesday and the Kingdom was represented there by the Representative of the General Sports Authority Mister Abdullatif Al Huraish and these meetings included the discussion of a number of reports related to the sports and youth activities and programs.
